2024 ELECTION;POVERTY PUSHING PEOPLE TO SELL THEIR VOTES–CODEO
The Co-Chairman of Coalition of Domestic Election Observers( CODEO) Rev.Dr.Fred Degbe has come out that poverty and hardship in the Country has pushed most Ghanaians to sell their their votes during elections time.
According to him,buying and selling of votes during elections time must be condemned and eliminated from the Country.
He said,selling of votes means one is selling his or her conscience and must be abolished.
Rev. Fred Degbe said,it’s time Ghanains vote according to their faith and the state of the nation and stop the attitude of taking money to vote.
In addition, he said,anyone including politicians who will be caught giving bribe to an electorate must be punished and jailed.
“Anyone including politician who will seen buying votes is a corrupt and doesn’t deserve to be voted for to lead the country”
In addition, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon.Alhaji Zubairu Kassim challenged media practitioners to leverage on technology to live up to their core responsibilities of protecting and deepening the country’s democracy for good governance by fact-checking information to ensure they positively impacted the nation as well as citizenry.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim intimated that, there was the need for Ghanaians to adopt to the digital era with a swift rise of artificial intelligence which presents opportunities and challenges to elections in this part of the world as the country gears up for election 2024.
He also entreated the electorates to be proactive in the usage of inartificial intelligence by making sure that elections in this digital era contribute to peace building and progress rather than undermining the country’s very existence.
