2024 Elections: Asiedu Nketia files nomination forms on behalf of Mahama

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has filed his presidential nomination forms to enable him to contest in the 2024 general elections.

His forms were submitted to the Electoral Commission (EC) by the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia on Monday, September 9.
Mr Asiedu Nketia was accompanied by the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey, the Director of IT and Elections of the NDC, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and other officials of the NDC.

Following the filing of the forms, Mr Asiedu Nketia expressed hope that the commission would listen to the concerns raised by the NDC against the process for the elections and come to a mutual conclusion.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to hold nationwide protests on September 17, 2024, in protest of what they describe as the Electoral Commission’s (EC) mishandling of irregularities found in the voter register.

The party’s concerns arose during the recent voter exhibition exercise, where they claimed to have identified numerous discrepancies. After meeting with the EC to address these issues, the NDC requested a forensic audit of the register, but this request was rejected.

NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, speaking to the media after submitting John Mahama’s presidential nomination forms, revealed that the party would stage nationwide protests.

Demonstrators are expected to march to the EC’s regional offices across all 16 regions, while the national leadership will deliver a formal petition at the EC’s headquarters in Accra.
