Ghana Gas denies procurement irregularities, defends insurance contract changes

The Ghana National Gas Company has denied allegations of misconduct in its recent procurement, affirming that all procedures and regulatory approvals were properly followed.

In a statement released on April 13, 2026, the company addressed media reports implying wrongdoing, especially regarding the change in its lead insurer.

The statement explained that the insurance change was due to assure the general public that no wrongdoing has occurred.

“The Company wishes to categorically assure the general public that no wrongdoing has occurred. The new insurance arrangements are entirely lawful and represent an enhanced risk management strategy to safeguard the Company’s assets,” it stated.

Ghana Gas added that all contracted work received the necessary approvals, including clearance from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and authorizations from the Ministry of Finance.

The company reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient gas delivery to support the country’s energy needs. It also pledged to continually improve its internal systems to uphold good corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
