KASOA NEW MARKET IS BEING SWALLOWED UP BY REFUSE – TRADERS
The sight of mountainous uncollected refuse at the Kasoa New market is an eyesore, to say the least. Aside of that there are smaller heaps of refuse that are gathered in bits and scattered around the municipality. It is so bad that the market itself is on the verge of being swallowed up by refuse which has become a major problem for the traders.
In an interview with Lucky News, some of the traders complained bitterly about the situation which they fear may have adverse effects on their health.
Traders at the market as well as commuters shared their grievances about the current sanitation situation at the Market.
The stench at the market is pungent that the traders, drivers and commuters find it difficult to breath which they fear is putting their lives in danger.
“The rubbish here is spreading diseases”, the traders expressed their fears.
They further expressed their displeasure at delays in carting away the refuse from the market.
According to them, they pay refuse collection fees to the assembly to collect refuse but still the refuse remains in the market.
They also disclosed that due to the stench and the seepage of water which comes out of the heaped refuse, trading has become difficult in the market.
They are therefore calling on the authorities to act fast before it gets out of hands.
