A COUNTRY THAT NEGLECTS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IS A COUNTRY WITH DISABILITIES – MR. EBENEZER AMPAABENG (GM, LUCKY TV)
The General Manager of Lucky Television, Mr. Ebenezer Ampaabeng, has said that a country that does not prioritize persons with disabilities itself becomes a country of disabilities.
According to him, God is compassionate and since He made man in His own image, He expects people to reflect his nature by also being compassionate towards the less fortunate. However, he observed that largely society is failing to do so. He was unhappy that not much is being done to recognize the contributions of mothers with disabilities and mothers of special children in the development of the society.
“Mothers of special child, do we know what they go through to take care of such children? Have we thought of how they survive? God did not create us all the same so as a country and as a people, if we have what it takes to help the marginalized, destitute, etc but we fail to show compassion towards them, then something is missing in us” he said.
Delivering his welcome address at Lucky TV’s maiden edition of the “Special Mother’s Day Awards” event, Mr. Ampaabeng also commended such disadvantaged mothers for their outstanding motherly love.
“Raising a disabled child can feel like running a marathon where the finish line is constantly being moved further away from you but no one is cheering for you and no one seems to get what’s so hard for you.
And so, these parents wind up feeling isolated, exhausted, and overwhelmed just by day-to-day life,” he added.
Some of these mothers sacrifice their happiness, pleasure, jobs and good living for these children so that they can be better people in future.
Mother’s Day is observed on the second Sunday of May each year. It is a day that marks the celebration of motherhood and acknowledges everything a mother does diligently in raising her children.
