ACCRA: Celebration of Salvador, Brazil 2024, and its Lunch
In the early hours of January 9th, 2024, the Tourist Information Center hosted the celebration lunch of Salvador Brazil 2024 under the theme “Reconnecting Afro Roots.
The event was graced by the Ghana Ambassador to Brazil, Her Excellency Abena Busia, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Honorable Mark Okraku Mantey, and other high-profile dignitaries in Africa and the Diaspora.
The invitation to Ghana is to promote the cultural diversities of the various countries through an afro-roots carnival in Salvador, Brazil.
Ghana celebrates the invitation from Brazil because it is the first of its kind in the country.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, her excellency Abena Busia disclosed to the media that Salvador Brazil 2024 was secured through Ghana’s signature event, which receives and celebrates with people from the diaspora “the year of return and must be celebrated because the year of return has yielded good results.
“Salvador is interested in Ghanaian culture presentation, and this is the first time Ghana has been invited to be part of their carnival. DNA will be done to trace people whose roots are from Ghana and exchange cultures.”
However, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts said that the “government of Ghana places emphasis on the concept and practice of good governance for the good people of Ghana and is the only way to ensure that democracy is visited on the people of Ghana.” He added that a holistic history of the slave trade must be taught and studied in Africa and the Diaspora.
