C/R: Assent to LGBTQ+ Bill – Assin South Chiefs appeal to President
Traditional leaders at Assin South in the Central Region, have appealed to the President, Nana Akufo Addo to assent to the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill passed by Parliament into law.
Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs, the Krontihene of Assin Jakai and Assin Praso, Nana Barfour Adjei ‘X’ indicated their request is a major support the passage of the bill has received amid the controversy it has stirred internationally, with the US Embassy in Ghana and other international bodies expressing concern about the bill.
He insisted that pansexual, non-binary, and homosexual activities are abominable and against our culture and that they should not be entertained in Ghana to pollute the good human values of Ghana.
He dispelled the assertion that Ghana would suffer financial aid from the Western world if President Akufo-Addo signed the bill into law.
“We must resist all forms of foreign aid with life-threatening conditions attached, he urged.”
Calling on President Akufo-Addo to promptly sign the bill to protect Ghana’s culture, he urged the leaders of the country to put in measures to ensure Ghana lives beyond foreign with strings attached.
He reiterated that they would not tolerate such an ungodly act in their community and anybody caught in the act will face the wrath of the chiefs in the area.
