“UPDATE Assin Nsuta: Chiefs Issue 48-Hour Ultimatum to SHS Headmaster over Borehole Commissioning Controversy”
The traditional leaders of Assin Nsuta in the Assin South District of the Central Region have given the Headmaster of Nsuta Agric Senior High School, Rev. Samuel William Quainor, a 48-hour ultimatum to commission a borehole constructed by an NGO in collaboration with the Assin South NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Stephen Kofi Baidoo.
The chiefs summoned the Headmaster on Tuesday, August 12, 2024, following the school’s refusal to allow the commissioning of the borehole, which aimed to alleviate the students’ plight in accessing potable water.
The lack of water has forced students to share a stagnant water source with animals, resulting in skin rashes and health concerns.
The Krontihene of Assin Nsuta Nana Kusi expressed shock, and disappointment, stating he was unaware of the students’ predicament.
He admonished the Headmaster to allow the borehole to be commissioned by Friday and advised the school authority to promote unity among teachers. The brouhaha, Nana believes, wouldn’t have happened if proper communication was channeled through the appropriate quarters.
The elders present condemned the Headmaster’s actions and pledged to ensure the borehole’s commissioning. They emphasized the need for unity among teachers and NGOs to facilitate development projects.
Currently, the students rely on dugouts drilled by a farmer for irrigation, which has become a health concern.
The NGO’s initiative aimed to provide a safe water source, but the Headmaster’s refusal has sparked controversy alluding to political interference.
