The annual Aboakyer celebrated by the people of Simpa (Winneba), has officially come to an end. It took off on 1st May and ended on 8th May, 2023.
The rich culture and tradition that characterizes the festival as many may recall, was for sometime marred by some unspeakable acts stemming from certain chieftaincy disputes.
It is for some of these dark spots in the past that had characterized the festival that led Lucky TV to want to throw light on how the festival is being brought back to its glory days.
In the past due to the chieftaincy disputes, one could clearly feel and in some instances see the tension right from media reportage to local conversations up until when the hunters go into the forest to hunt and capture a live deer. During those days, one could hear disputes over whether or not the two factions, Dentsifo and Tuafo, will go for the hunt. These and many other misunderstandings are what heightened tensions.
Today we are proud and glad to report that this year’s Aboakyer saw none of such negative aspects, from the traditional experts right to food, music and dance event as well as boosting the local economy.
Aboakyer 2023 was marked as one of the most patronized in many years. Chiefs, elders and organizers promise even more secure, fun and peaceful Aboakyer next year.
