ANNOH-DOMPREH LEADS MINORITY TO COCOA COMMUNITIES OVER PRICE REDUCTION

Frank Annoh-Dompreh has led the minority caucus to tour and interract with cocoa farmers at cocoa-growing communities in the Eastern Region

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has led members of the Minority Caucus on a tour of cocoa-growing communities in the Eastern Region following the government’s recent reduction in cocoa producer prices.

The government says the adjustment is a reflection of the declining global cocoa prices. However, the Minority argues the decision unfairly burdens farmers already struggling with rising production costs.

Describing the move as a “rip-off,” Mr. Annoh-Dompreh urged the government to consider a bailout instead of cutting prices, insisting farmers should not bear the full impact of global market fluctuations.

Accompanying Mr Annoh-Dompreh on the tour are Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Isaac Yaw Opoku, Michael Aidoo, Seth Osei-Akoto, Samuel Awuku, Ida Adjoa Asiedu, Laurette Korkor Asante, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Charles Asuako Owiredu, Alexander Agyare, Davis Opoku Ansah, Gideon Boako and Rudolf Amoako-Gyampah.

The Minority says it will continue to push for policies that protect cocoa farmers and sustain the sector.
