Asante Gold Mines Commissions School Projects in Bibiani

Mining firm boosts education in 19 communities, announces plans for 100-bed hospital to improve healthcare access

has commissioned new school facilities at Bibiani to improve education in 19 surrounding communities as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

The initiative supports areas such as Bibiani Old Town and Zongo, where residents who were resettled now have access to better learning environments aimed at enhancing both teaching and academic outcomes.

Chief Executive Officer David Anthony highlighted the importance of education in driving community development, stressing that investing in children is essential for long-term societal progress. He also urged residents to maintain the facilities to ensure they benefit future generations.

General Manager Samuel Kwasi Takyi revealed that the company is planning to construct a 100-bed hospital within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality. The proposed facility is expected to reduce pressure on the existing government hospital, which currently serves as a key referral centre for the Western North Region, parts of the Ashanti Region, and Denkyira in the Central Region.

The Paramount Chief of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, commended the company for its investment in education. He encouraged parents to prioritise their children’s schooling and advised young people who are unable to pursue higher education to consider vocational and technical training as a path to sustainable livelihoods.
