BETTING TO BE BANNED / TAXED

In a time where the greater majority of the Ghanaian youth are turning to sports betting due to the hardship in the country as a result of the huge unemployment gap and other external factors, there seems to be a proposal from the ruling party to tax the bet winnings of bet winners by 10%.

This has reincarnated a statement that was made by the leader of the minority caucus in parliament who doubles as the member of parliament for Ajumako Enyan Esiam Constituency, Hon. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson for suggesting that betting is a majority contributing factor that is spoiling the youth and as such if it was left to only him, he would ban it outright.
