CETAG withdraws all services over salary dispute
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has withdrawn all services with immediate effect until further notice.
This decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Council on July 23, 2024, in response to the Minister for Education’s directive to Principals and the Controller and Accountant General not to validate the July 2024 salaries of teaching staff of the 46 public colleges of education due to their ongoing legal strike.
“We wish to assure all members that leadership is determined to fight on until justice is served,” the National President of CETAG said.
The withdrawn services include attendance to meetings, congregation ceremonies, provision of academic counseling services, and supervision of students in the halls of residence.
CETAG has referred the “illegal directive” to freeze their July 2024 salaries to their lawyers to take immediate action.
“Leadership is determined to fight on until justice is served,” the National President emphasized.
The association ended its statement with a rallying cry: “CETAG Long Live! Long Live Teacher Educators! Aluta Continua!”
