GES presents laptops to 17,000 teachers under 1-Teacher-1 Laptop programme
The Ghana Education Service has handed over laptops to seventeen thousand (17,000) teachers across the country to aid in lesson preparation, research, and teaching.
The One-Teacher-One Laptop program was launched in 2021 to enhance education delivery through information technology and to improve teaching and learning outcomes in pre-tertiary educational institutions nationwide.
Under the program, government covers 70% of the laptop’s cost. Teacher pay the remaining 30%.
Whilst some of the public school teachers were fortunate to have received theirs in 2022, many of them did not receive despite paying for it.
Though the distribution of the laptops has delayed, the teachers have finally received the devices to support teaching and learning process.
“We thank the teachers for being patient all this while. The Minister of Education has been working tirelessly and pushing these suppliers in making sure that they complete the supplies.
“It’s a relief for everyone because the kind of transformation that we are seeing in our country in the education front, we would want every teacher to have access to these technological devices.
So, these laptops will come in to support teaching and learning”, Director-General of Ghana Education Service, Dr Eric Nkansah said whilst presenting the laptops to the teachers.
