GPRTU Welcomes Fuel Price Reduction, Suspends Planned Fare Hike
Ghana Private Road Transport Union says government intervention eases pressure as operators hold off fare increases

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union has welcomed the government’s recent intervention to reduce fuel costs, describing it as a timely move that has brought relief to transport operators.
Head of Industrial Relations, Abass Imoro, said the union had been considering an increase in transport fares due to rising operational costs, particularly fuel.
Speaking on Ghana Tonight, he noted that the latest development has prompted the union to suspend any immediate fare adjustments.
According to him, the GPRTU will monitor fuel prices over the next two pricing windows before taking a final decision.
Mr Imoro added that while the intervention is encouraging, operators are hopeful for further reductions in fuel prices to ease their burden.
He emphasized that sustained fuel price stability would help maintain current fares and provide relief to both drivers and commuters.
