MANY FACTORS LED TO KOTOKU ROYALS FC GETTING RELEGATED TO 1ST DIVISION – COACH ADUAFO (HEAD COACH KOTOKU ROYALS)

Popularly known as Coach Ola, John Aduafo Junior, was the man on Ghana’s current hottest afternoon show dubbed #OnTheField, hosted by Alex Ofosu Aggrey, better known as Boshyeba the Supremo on Wednesday 6th July, 2023.

In the one-on-one interview, which forms part of Lucky TV’s efforts to unearth and go deep into the woes that have befallen Ghana football in recent times, Coach Ola as he is fondly called, first took viewers through his background. In his own words he said “I am a Winnebarian, born and raised in Winneba. I played football while growing up and succeeded playing the level of Ghana’s 1st division. I played with ODUPONG Warriors, but as fate would have it, I had to go back to school and fortunately ended up studying coaching, which has landed me here today.

As it was outlined by Boshyeba, he has managed a number of teams, but it was his time at Kumasi Asante Kotoko as the Assistant Coach that really made him popular. In answering a question on why he left Kotoko when his then boss, Dr. Prosper Addo won the league title but decided to resign as head coach, Coach John Aduafo simply answered that he just reciprocated the respect, love and honour that was shown him by the then Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, by staying loyal.

Now to the substantive topic on Akyem Oda’s Kotoku Royals, their relegation to Division one and the way forward, he set the records straight saying he only took over as the head coach for Kotoku Royals mid-season and went on to outline factors that led to their relegation.

First the issue of home ground taken away from Oda due to issues with the readiness of their stadium, the unavailability of funds, among othes.
