NDC Teachers Forum Calls for Fearless Advocacy in Education

The Central Region NDC Teachers Forum recently held a regional conference in Cape Coast, Ghana, under the theme “A Stable Democracy for Educational Sustainability, The Role of the Teacher.” The conference aimed to build the capacity of teachers ahead of the upcoming December general election and recruit students from second-cycle schools.

National President of the NDC Teachers Forum, Hon. Abu Sufian, emphasized the need for teachers to speak the truth and overcome fear and intimidation. He urged teachers to prioritize quality education, regardless of their political affiliations, stating, “It’s time for teachers to come out and speak the truth, whether you are NPP or NDC, because they contribute to the quality of education, whether it’s an NPP or NDC regime.”

Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse, a lecturer and climatologist, addressed the conference, urging teachers to fight for Ghana’s future, citing widespread suffering and economic hardship. She emphasized the importance of teachers’ roles in shaping the country’s destiny.

Madam Comfort Edmond, Central Regional Woman’s Organizer of the Teachers Forum, encouraged women to participate in politics, highlighting the opportunity presented by NDC Vice Presidential Candidate Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman’s women’s bank initiative. This policy aims to support women, particularly those in trade, and empower them to participate in the political process.
