Sachet Water Prices Set to Rise Amid Global Supply Challenges

NASPAWAP announces new pricing to reflect rising production costs, urging retailers to comply as households and small businesses brace for higher costs starting April 6, 2026

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) announced a price increase for sachet water due to rising production costs linked to global supply disruptions.

Starting Monday, April 6, 2026, the new prices reflect a sharp rise in the cost of raw materials, especially polymers used in packaging, worsened by the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has disrupted supply chains and increased international prices.

Under the new structure, the ex-factory price for a 30-pack of 500ml sachets is GH¢8, with an ex-truck price of GH¢10. The association also states that the retail price should not exceed GH¢15 per bag.

In a statement on April 2, NASPAWAP explained that the price adjustment was necessary as producers struggle with higher input costs, making current prices unsustainable. The group emphasized that these recommended rates aim to ensure market consistency and operational sustainability and urged retailers and distributors to adhere to the guidelines for fairness and stability. “This adjustment is necessary to sustain production and ensure the continuous supply of safe drinking water,” the statement added.

This change is likely to affect households and small businesses, as sachet water is a primary source of drinking water in many areas of the country.
