THREE IMMIGRATION OFFICERS GUNNED DOWN, ONE DIES INSTANTLY

An officer of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has been shot dead by unknown assailants in the conflict-prone Bawku area of the Upper East Region.

Two other officers are fighting for survival at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

The immigration officers were attacked on their way to the Missiga station.

The deceased officer has been identified as Philip Motey, with the injured being Eric Ayibiya, 30 and Laurence Afri, 42.

Military presence in the town has been beefed up as the gunmen are pursued.
