Herbalife Ghana partners Joseph Paintsil’s JP Academy to promote Youth Development

Herbalife Ghana has announced a new nutrition partnership involving LA Galaxy and Ghana international Joseph Paintsil’s JP Academy, aimed at supporting youth football development through sports and proper nutrition.

Under the agreement, Herbalife Ghana will serve as the Official Nutrition Partner of JP Academy and its affiliated JP Club teams. The company will provide nutrition education and products designed to help young footballers improve their health and athletic performance.

The partnership was officially unveiled during a press briefing held at Herbalife Ghana’s offices at Airport Square in Accra.

The initiative forms part of the company’s broader commitment to long-term community empowerment, particularly programmes that promote youth participation in sports.

Speaking at the launch, Clarence Amenyah, Senior Manager of Country Sales for Herbalife Ghana, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration.

“I’m delighted that Herbalife Ghana has had the opportunity to partner with Joseph. This initiative focuses on education, sports development and nutrition for young people, and we hope it will create lasting impact as the relationship grows,” he said.

Joseph Paintsil, who attended the event, also welcomed the partnership and highlighted its potential to benefit young athletes in Ghana.

“I am grateful to Herbalife International, Herbalife Ghana and LA Galaxy for this opportunity. This partnership shows Herbalife’s strong commitment to supporting communities and investing in grassroots football,” Paintsil stated.

The initiative builds on Paintsil’s existing relationship with Herbalife through LA Galaxy, where the company already serves as the club’s exclusive nutrition partner.

By extending this collaboration to Ghana, the partners hope to strengthen grassroots athlete development while providing young players with the knowledge and resources needed to maintain healthy lifestyles and proper nutrition.

Herbalife Ghana has operated in the country since 2011 through a network of independent distributors. Globally, the company operates in more than 90 countries, offering a range of products including weight management, targeted nutrition, sports nutrition and outer nutrition.

A key component of the partnership is JP Academy, Paintsil’s football academy, which will serve as the main platform for implementing the programme in Ghana.

The academy focuses on developing young football talent while encouraging discipline, teamwork and strong character.

“At JP Academy, our aim is to provide a professional environment where young footballers can grow both as athletes and individuals,” Paintsil explained.
“We want to make a meaningful contribution to Ghanaian football and help produce players who excel both on and off the pitch.”

Through the partnership, academy players will receive structured nutrition education covering areas such as fueling, hydration and recovery to improve their athletic performance.

Herbalife Ghana will also collaborate with the academy’s coaching staff to develop and implement a comprehensive team-wide nutrition programme.

As part of the launch activities, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil also visited Herbalife Family Foundation partner organisation Potter’s Village in Dodowa.

During the visit, the team donated nutrition products and essential supplies to support the facility and the children living there.

Amenyah noted that the visit reflects the company’s wider commitment to supporting communities in need.

“It is important that our work goes beyond sport to positively impact lives within the community,” he said.

The donation highlights the partnership’s broader goal of addressing social challenges and supporting vulnerable groups.

The collaboration is designed to deliver benefits across several areas, including improved nutrition for young athletes, education on healthy living and structured opportunities for personal growth.

It also aims to strengthen community engagement by using sport as a platform for empowerment and social development.

Addressing young players and volunteers at the event, Paintsil encouraged them to pursue their ambitions with dedication and discipline.

“I urge young players to play with passion, discipline and fairness,” he said.
“I also want to recognise the coaches and volunteers whose efforts are vital to youth development, even though their work often goes unnoticed.”

He emphasised that with the right guidance, nutrition and values, young Ghanaian athletes can aspire to achieve success at the international level.

Both Herbalife Ghana and Paintsil stressed that the partnership represents a long-term commitment rather than a short-term initiative.

Amenyah concluded that the collaboration reflects a shared vision of creating sustainable pathways for athlete development in Ghana.

The programme will include regular training sessions, nutrition workshops and community outreach activities throughout the year, with further engagements planned at JP Academy facilities.

Through the initiative, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil aim to strengthen youth development in Ghana by expanding access to nutrition education, structured sports training and values-based mentorship.
