Government Moves to Establish TVET Fund to Boost Skills Development
Deputy Education Minister Clement Apaak announces plans to support training, innovation and access as top talents honoured at Ghana TVET Excellence Awards

The government has announced plans to establish a dedicated Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) fund to ensure sustainable financing for the sector.
Speaking at the 2026 Ghana TVET Excellence Awards on behalf of the sector minister, Deputy Minister of Education, Clement Apaak said the proposed fund would provide structured support for infrastructure, modern equipment, instructor training and innovation across TVET institutions.
He added that the initiative would also expand access for disadvantaged but talented students, strengthen apprenticeship programmes and support key sectors of the economy.
Dr Apaak further disclosed that a comprehensive national TVET policy is awaiting Cabinet approval, aimed at improving governance, quality assurance, industry collaboration and inclusivity, while incorporating digital skills and innovation.
Meanwhile, 16 individuals and six institutions were honoured at the awards ceremony organised by the Commission for TVET to recognise excellence in skills development.
Director-General of the Commission, Zakaria Suleman, called for stronger industry partnerships and strict adherence to training standards to sustain the sector’s growth.
The event also featured a call for adaptability among young people, as experts highlighted the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of work, urging continuous learning to remain competitive.
