Sannie Daara Urges Realistic Expectations After Queiroz Appointment
Ibrahim Sannie Daara calls for caution as Carlos Queiroz takes charge of Ghana’s Black Stars

Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has urged Ghanaians to manage expectations following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars.
Queiroz was officially appointed on April 13, 2026, replacing Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties after consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany, despite securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
While acknowledging Queiroz’s vast experience, Sannie Daara cautioned against expecting immediate success, noting that the current squad may not yet be strong enough to compete with the world’s elite teams.
“We should not overplay our hands in expecting that Carlos Queiroz can instantly take us to the quarter-finals or semi-finals,” he said.
He also called for an honest assessment of the team’s depth and injury concerns, urging fans and stakeholders to remain measured in their expectations.
Queiroz, who has been given a short-term mandate, is expected to focus on preparing Ghana for a challenging group-stage campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The 73-year-old brings significant tournament experience, having previously coached South Africa, Portugal, and Iran at various World Cup competitions.
He is expected to arrive in Ghana soon for his official unveiling, with the task of stabilising the team and improving its performance after early exits in recent tournaments.
