GFA Postpones Match Day 30 Fixtures After Player’s Death

Football body halts league games as nation mourns fallen striker

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed all Ghana Premier League Match Day 30 fixtures following the tragic death of Dominic Frimpong.

Frimpong, a player for Berekum Chelsea, reportedly died after an armed robbery attack on the team bus, an incident that has sent shockwaves across the football community.

In a statement, the GFA said the decision was taken to allow the football fraternity to mourn and honour the late striker during this difficult time.

The Association noted that the suspension of the fixtures would give clubs, players, and fans the opportunity to reflect and pay tribute to Frimpong’s life and career.

The league is expected to resume on the weekend of May 1–4, 2026, with Match Day 31 fixtures, while a new date for the postponed games will be announced later.

The GFA also extended its condolences to the player’s family, his teammates at Berekum Chelsea, his parent club Aduana FC, and the entire football fraternity following the loss.
