Play with love and passion not for money, 1963 Blackstars AFCON winner, Wilberforce Mfum to local Blackstars players.

Ghanaian and Asante Kotoko SC legend, Wilberforce Mfum , who has played a huge role in Ghana’s football history has urged the Ghana football association to involve more local based players in the black stars team and also encouraged Asante Kotoko SC players to play with passion and love for the Kotoko team.

In an interview on Lucky TV’s On The Field sports show, Wiberforce Mfum gave details on his football journey, education and how he ended up as an Asante Kotoko SC player. he also threw light on how he got into the black stars team to the point of becoming a legend in Ghanaian football.

Wilberforce Mfum explained that, Being in the Kotoko team, a player won’t know the value of it from the start but as the player progresses at Asante Kotoko SC, the player benefits more and gains recognition which sends the player to higher heights in their football career.

He further advised the leaders of Ghana football to select more of the local players since we have the talents here rather than selecting foreign based players from lower divisions into the Black Stars team.

Wilberforce is celebrated for his contributions in Ghana football and the role he played in the 1963 African Cup of Nations where he scored 2 goals to secure Ghana the title
