Mustapha Hamid declares intention for NPP National Vice Chairman position

Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has officially declared his intention to run for the role of National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when nominations open.

In a statement to party members, he explained that his decision was motivated by ongoing calls from party members urging him to leverage his experience and knowledge to help rebuild the NPP.

He called these calls a “clarion call to serve” and said he had given serious thought to the appeal before deciding to step forward.

He emphasized that his ambition is not for personal gain but rooted in a desire to give back to the party that has shaped his political path.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid highlighted his long-standing involvement with the NPP, dating back to its early days, noting he was a founding member of the University of Cape Coast branch in 1992.

He also mentioned being present at Victoria Park in Cape Coast during the symbolic transition from the Danquah-Busia Club to the NPP on May 18, 1992.

Throughout the years, he has run for important party positions, including National Organiser in 2001 and General Secretary in 2005, though he did not win those races.

Despite these setbacks, he pointed out his ongoing commitment, including serving as spokesperson for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for ten years and later as Deputy National Campaign Manager during the 2020 elections.
