Berekum Chelsea player Dominic Frimpong killed in armed robbery attack

Ghana football is mourning the death of Dominic Frimpong, a Berekum Chelsea player, who died from gunshot wounds after a robbery attack on the team’s bus.
The attack happened along the Goaso–Bibiani road near Ahyiresu in the Ahafo Region, when armed assailants reportedly blocked the road and shot at the team vehicle. Players and staff had to escape into nearby bushes for safety.
The club confirmed that Frimpong was critically wounded in the head and was rushed to Bibiani Government Hospital for emergency care. He was being prepared for transfer to a higher-level facility when he died.
Frimpong joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, with the deal extending until the end of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
He had been a rising talent, making 13 league appearances and scoring two goals this season. His performances had shown him as a promising player for the club before his tragic death.
This incident shocked the Ghanaian football community and raised serious concerns about team safety during travel. Authorities are expected to increase investigations into the attack.
