CEO of Kas Estates pursue political ambition

Exclusive Interview with Yahya Kassim Atta, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Amasaman Constituency

Yahya Kassim Atta, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Amasaman, shared insights into his journey and aspirations in an exclusive interview. Born in Ankuma-Kwaku, Yahya moved to Amasaman in 2000 to pursue business opportunities. His entrepreneurial ventures began with Kas Estate, which has since expanded across all 14 regions of Ghana. Under the Kas brand, he also established Kas Construction, Kas Coconut Farm in Accra, and Kas Media, which includes Mother’s TV and radio stations.

“I am Kwahu Kramo,” Yahya shared about his educational background. He attended school in Kwahu and, after moving to Accra, lived with his father, from whom he learned construction skills. Yahya completed his university studies at Accra Polytechnic, followed by a degree and master’s at AIT. He furthered his education in languages, studying Arabic and French at City Campus.

Yahya’s passion for politics has been lifelong. “I was a member when Nana was running for president, actively involved in party activities and campaigns,” he recalled. His political journey took a significant turn during the 2016 campaign when he stepped in as campaign chairman due to the incumbent’s weakness. Encouraged by his mother and the party, he decided to run for MP when NPP won.

This is Yahya’s first run for MP for Amasaman, a large constituency with 17 electoral areas and a significant population. “Amasaman needs a lot of security due to the migration of people,” he noted. Yahya emphasized his commitment to community development, with initiatives including employing 450 staff, training 600 youth, and building infrastructure like roads, a party house, and an NPP villa. His philanthropic efforts include donating GHS 20,000 to mothers in hospitals on Mother’s Day, constructing a free private school, and building a police station.

Yahya also organizes the annual Homowo Gala, invests in football, and supports both Islamic and Christian communities by providing free airtime on Mother’s TV. “I believe in helping people,” he said. He advises Ghanaian youth to “vote wisely and have hope in democracy,” and appeals for support and prayers from the Amasaman electorate.

As a Muslim, Yahya is committed to doing the right thing and encourages the people of Ghana to vote for Bawumia as the first Muslim president. “All votes matter,” he concluded.
