Pastor Arrested Over Attempted Burial of Live Baby in Ashanti Region
Five-month-old girl rescued at refuse dump as police detain suspect and accomplice

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a pastor in connection with an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who heads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was apprehended after the disturbing incident, which has left residents in shock.
Eyewitnesses reported that the pastor and an accomplice were seen around 11 p.m. at a refuse dump behaving suspiciously while in possession of the baby. One witness, Winfred Agbah, said he became alarmed by their actions and decided to intervene. Upon closer inspection, he discovered the child was still alive and about to be buried.
He quickly raised the alarm, prompting others to step in and rescue the baby, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.
The Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, revealed that the suspect had earlier claimed the child was dead, which led to discussions about burial arrangements. He noted, however, that he was unaware the baby was still alive at the time.
The rescued baby girl is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital.
Police have since taken the pastor and his accomplice into custody as investigations continue.
