NPP’s Jennifer Queen Criticises Free Primary Healthcare Policy
Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen says initiative duplicates National Health Insurance Scheme and diverts focus from urgent national issues

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen, has criticised the government’s Free Primary Healthcare policy, describing it as unnecessary in light of existing national challenges.
Speaking on UTV Ghana, she argued that the policy duplicates the role of the National Health Insurance Scheme, which already provides primary healthcare services.
She maintained that government resources should instead be directed toward pressing concerns such as unpaid teacher salaries and challenges facing traders and importers.
According to her, issues raised by the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations highlight the need for greater attention to economic difficulties, particularly at the country’s ports.
Jennifer Queen stressed that while improving healthcare is important, the current policy does not reflect the most urgent needs of citizens, urging the government to reassess its priorities.
