Trade Minister Courts Investment as Coca-Cola Plans Expansion in Ghana

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare highlights Ghana’s investment appeal as Coca-Cola eyes major expansion

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has positioned Ghana as a prime investment destination in Africa, welcoming a major expansion drive by Coca-Cola while pledging government support for sustainable trade initiatives.

She made the remarks during separate engagements in Accra with delegations from Coca-Cola’s West Africa, Morocco, and Algeria (WAMA) region and the International Chamber of Commerce on April 16, 2026.

Responding to Coca-Cola’s planned investment announcement, expected at a high-level conference scheduled for May 6–8 in Accra, the Minister underscored Ghana’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa.

“If you are investing in Africa, Ghana can be your base,” she stated, citing the country’s stable economic environment and investor-friendly policies.

Madam Ofosu-Adjare emphasised government’s readiness to support large-scale investments through coordinated institutional efforts, noting that her Ministry would work closely with sectors such as finance, health, and environment to ensure smooth operations for multinational companies.

The Coca-Cola delegation, led by Communications Director for the WAMA region, David Appiah, highlighted the company’s continued commitment to Ghana, revealing that it contributed GHc1.28 billion to the economy in 2024 and created thousands of jobs. He added that the new investment would further strengthen its presence and boost economic growth.

The Minister described the planned expansion as a strong vote of confidence in Ghana’s economy, aligning with government’s broader industrialisation and investment agenda.

In a related development, she also expressed support for the upcoming 2nd ICC African Sustainable Supply Chain Summit, scheduled for October 12–13, 2026, in Tema.

According to Emmanuel Dhoni-Kwame, the summit will focus on strengthening Africa’s supply chains and enhancing economic resilience.

Madam Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the International Chamber of Commerce to promote sustainable trade and boost intra-African investment.
