W-R, Tarkwa-Dead man elected as Assembly Member

Electorates in the Teberebe Electoral Area in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region yesterday did the unthinkable by voting for an Assembly Member aspirant who died two weeks ago.
Manasseh Addison Sackey, who was the incumbent Assembly Member for the area, got drowned in the River Bonsa two weeks before yesterday’s election.
However, the electoral commission did not remove his picture from the ballot paper.
The electorate, even though they were aware that he had passed on to eternity, also voted for him.
He polled 860 votes to beat his closest contender, Bernard Obeng, who polled 857 to win the election.
The third candidate, Michael Abunyua Dompreh, garnered 637.
Meanwhile, a former Bono Ahafo EC boss, Mr. George Gyabaah, tells Oyerepa News that the EC will nullify the results of the election and run a fresh election to select an Assembly Member for the Teberebe Electoral Area.
