Former Bantama Constituency MP, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, Passes Away
In a sad turn of events, the Ashanti Region is in sorrow over the passing of Daniel Okyem Aboagye, a former member of parliament for the Bantama Constituency. On Saturday, September 23, word of his departure spread, throwing a shadow over the area.
After passing away following a brief but severe illness, the late Okyem Aboagye, a major figure in politics, left an empty space in the hearts of everyone who knew him. For the people he supported during his time in parliament, his untimely departure signals the end of an era.
The extraordinary victory Okyem Aboagye achieved in the 2015 New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries established his political career. This major victory drove him into the office of Member of Parliament, which he occupied from 2017 until 2021 with passion and commitment. He demonstrated his dedication to the economic security of his constituents and the country as a whole by making significant contributions as a member of the Finance Committee throughout his time in the House of Representatives.
But in the run-up to the 2020 general elections, the NPP primaries changed the course of his political career. Unfortunately, Francis Asenso-Boakye won the election and took his place, changing the political climate in the Bantama Constituency.
Beyond his political life, Okyem Aboagye was also known as the Chief Executive Officer of the widely recognized transport company, 2M Express. His leadership and contributions extended beyond the realm of politics, making him a multifaceted personality whose presence will be sorely missed.
While the Ashanti Region mourns the passing of a committed public servant and businessman, those who knew him will always remember him for the contributions he made to politics and business.
Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and everyone else affected by this loss, and we offer our condolences. Daniel Okyem Aboagye’s legacy will definitely endure as evidence of his accomplishments and the impression he made on the Ashanti Region and the Bantama Constituency.
